Khmer Unicode for Mac – ខ្មែរយូនីកូដសំរាប់ម៉ាក

For Mac (Apple Computer)

As of now, there is no free product out there. There  is one company selling it, check the link below:

http://www.xenotypetech.com/osxCambodian.html

This is the instruction, I was told (After you  have purchased this product).

1)  Put the “khmer.rsrc“ file  into the “Keyboard Layouts” folder in your “Library” folder.

2)  Put the “x.ttf” files (2 files)  into the “Fonts” folder inside your “Library” folder,

  • 1-XenoType Khmer ,  2 – XenoType KhmerBold

3)    Then you’ll need to select the Khmer keyboard in your System Preferences under “International” and “Input Menu”.  The Khmer Unicode Keyboard is for Windows Khmer Unicode fonts but it works fine with Mac too, just substitute “Option key” (either right or left) where it says “right ALT key”.

Also note this one difference in the keyboards: for the independent vowel “ao ឪ”

You need to type + (that’s the = key with shift), not “O + Right Alt” like the keyboard map says for Windows.

There is free word processing software for typing Khmer, it’s very basic but it works well: http://www.bean-osx.com/Bean.html

Khmer Unicode will not work on MS Word on the Mac, but it will work in both Firefox and Safari.

You can also use it with Yahoo mail, Gmail, Hotmail.
